How we can help you with education and training

Our team brings together the best possible blend of knowledge, experience, and understanding of public legal education to help you develop your own work in whatever ways best suit your needs.

"I attended this course at a zoom meeting, it was really informative. So many things I did not know about. I am also homeless so it was really good for me, I learnt so many things."

We have extensive experience of developing public legal education initiatives in many different settings, both in the UK and internationally. We can work with you to create, plan, implement or evaluate all kinds of initiatives with energy and creativity. We can help you to:

  • Develop, plan and deliver public legal education initiatives of any kind
  • Identify how PLE can benefit your work – including providing help with the development of proposals and grant applications
  • Deliver one or more of our existing courses to your organisation or service users to increase their capability to deal with law-related issues.  See the Education and training section for more detail about our existing courses.

Many of our training courses are aimed at trusted intermediaries – those professionals and volunteers who can use what they learn on the course to better the lives of their communities and clients.

“What we have learnt from the course will be invaluable in my role as a social prescriber. Since then, I have supported three homeless people and three people wishing to move.”

A diverse range of organisations commission us to help with their education and training work. Since 2019 we have worked with Warwick Law School to support the delivery of their Public Legal Education module, the Ministry of Justice to provide training to NHS Link workers in the North East and South West, and small Turkish campaigning group Ismir Centre for the Right to the City to help them build their PLE strategy. Have a look at some of our projects to find out more.

If you need our help, get in touch even if you don’t have a budget. We are sometimes able to deliver training by finding funding from a third party. For example, in 2020-21 the Bar Standards Board generously enabled us to provide vital training to Women with Hope (a grassroots collective of migrant and refugee women in Birmingham), and Latin American Welfare Rights Service, to enable them to better support women dealing with issues caused and exacerbated by COVID. And funding from Trust for London has enabled us to support many community groups in the London area to better support their clients dealing with housing difficulties.

"Working with Law for Life was a real pleasure. At each stage of the project we delivered together, Law for Life were very professional, excellent in communication, prompt in responding to questions and queries. Dada made sure all the project aims and deadlines were met at the same time making sure that our organisational capacity was considered. She made sure that our service users were consulted and involved in every stage of the process".
