The podcast is based on an online strategic forum organised by Law for Life on 25th November 2020. This event was one of four online strategic forums on housing rights that Law for Life organised with the support of Trust for London.

Law for Life’s strategic forums on housing rights aimed at increasing knowledge of community and grassroots groups over existing remedies and channels which can be used to address housing problems. The forums were a space to share practical experiences and learnings from campaigners, lawyers and local authorities seeking a more just and accountable housing system.

Engaging with local councillors effectively on housing problems

Local Councillors can be a very effective route for addressing housing problems in a quick and affordable way, and they are often one of the first points of contact for people facing housing issues and their advisors. In this podcast Francesca Feruglio from Law for Life speaks with Sue Lukes, Labour Councillor for Islington. Councillor Sue Lukes explains how to leverage the structure and powers of councils to address issues ranging from private sector renting to homelessness applications.

The podcast is based on an online strategic forum on Engaging with Councillors effectively held on the 10th September 2020. The event was one of four strategic forums on housing rights that Law for Life organised with the support of Trust for London.
